OBIS-SEAMAP - The Ocean Biogeographic Information System - Spatial Ecological Analysis of Megavertebrate Populations offers a spatial database relating to marine mammals, turtles, and sea birds.

FishBase - A global information system for fishes. This site provides an interface to search information by common and scientific names, geographic region, biodiversity maps, available tools, and references.

The Southeast Regional Taxonomic Center (SERTC) is located in the Marine Resources Research Institute (South Carolina Department of Natural Resources) in Charleston, South Carolina. This facility houses a collection of marine and estuarine animals from the South Atlantic Bight and also maintains a searchable library based on taxonomic peer-reviewed literature.

National Benthic Inventory (NBI) - The NBI consists of a quantitative database on benthic species distributions and a corresponding taxonomic reference collection of preserved benthic specimens obtained from studies conducted by NOAA and partnering institutions.
